The SEC just announced the formation of five new National Specialized Units in the Division of Enforcement - placing Asset Management directly in the cross hairs.

Per Robert Khuzami, Director of the SEC’s Division of Enforcement, this initiative constitutes the “biggest re-organization of the Enforcement Division in more than 30 years.”

First and foremost - the SEC’s new Asset Management Unit will target hedge funds, private equity, investment advisers, and investment companies.

Robert Kaplan and Bruce Karpati will serve as Co-Chiefs of the new Asset Management Unit.
